New pool construction
Pool Builder in Little Rock, AR
Sunrise Pools builds new inground pools across Little Rock: custom gunite, fiberglass, vinyl liner and compact plunge pools. You work with Sean, from first visit to finished job.
Every build starts the same way. Sean walks your backyard, asks how you want to use it, and tells you plainly which kind of pool fits your yard and which doesn’t.

Inground Pools We Build in Little Rock
There’s no single best pool. There’s the best pool for your yard, your budget and how much upkeep you want. Here’s how the four types we build compare, and who each one tends to suit.
- Gunite (concrete): concrete sprayed over a steel-reinforced frame and shaped on site. It’s the most custom option, with any shape, depth, bench, tanning ledge or built-in feature, and it’s also the longest build. The plaster finish will need resurfacing down the road. Best for homeowners who want a one-of-a-kind pool and plan to stay put.
- Fiberglass: a one-piece shell made in a factory, delivered and set in the ground. The smooth surface is easy on feet and tends to resist algae, and installs usually move faster than gunite. Shapes and sizes are limited to what the manufacturer makes and what can be trucked in. Best for people who want lower upkeep and a quicker path to swimming.
- Vinyl liner: a custom-fit vinyl liner over a wall-and-floor system. It usually costs less up front than gunite or fiberglass and comes in many shapes. Liners wear and eventually need replacing, which is work we also do. Best for families who want a full-size pool on a tighter budget.
- Plunge pools: compact, factory-made pools we install as an authorized plunge pool dealer, often set in place by crane. Best for tight lots and courtyards, and for people who want to cool off, soak or do hot/cold wellness more than swim laps.
How a Pool Build Works With Sean
Most pool regrets start before anyone digs. Here’s how we keep the early decisions clear.
- Reach out. Call or text 501.246.6789, or send the form. Tell us what you have in mind and include a few backyard photos if you can.
- Site visit. Sean comes out before quoting a new build. He looks at access for equipment, slope, drainage, utilities, trees and where the pool would sit in relation to the house.
- Choose the right pool. We talk through pool type, size, features and upkeep, and you get an honest recommendation, including when a smaller pool or a plunge pool makes more sense.
- Clear quote. You get a written quote built for your yard. On custom gunite pools, our quotes usually include about four feet of concrete deck around the pool.
- Permits and HOA. In-ground pools typically need a permit, and some neighborhoods’ HOAs may require approval. Confirm both for your address before work starts; we’ll go over what to check during the site visit.
- The build. Sean stays your point of contact, on his cell, from excavation through decking and cleanup.
- After the build. We can take over weekly care and repairs, so the company that built your pool keeps it running.
What Affects the Cost of a New Pool
We don’t publish one price for a new pool, because two backyards on the same street can cost very different amounts. New builds are quoted after Sean visits your property. These are the factors that move the number most:
- Pool type: gunite, fiberglass, vinyl liner or plunge pool
- Size and depth
- Site access, meaning how equipment (or a crane, for a plunge pool) gets into the yard
- Slope, soil and drainage, which can add excavation, grading or retaining work
- Decking: how much, and what material
- Features such as lighting, heating, water features, automation, benches and tanning ledges
- Electrical and plumbing runs from the house to the equipment
- Landscaping, fencing and finishing work
Decking and Landscaping, Done With the Pool
A pool isn’t finished when the water goes in. Decking, grading and landscaping decide whether it feels like part of the yard or something dropped into it.
We work with subcontractor partners for decking and landscaping and coordinate them as part of your project, so you aren’t managing separate crews. On custom gunite builds, our quotes usually include about four feet of concrete deck around the pool. More decking, landscaping and yard lighting can be added.
Short on Space? Consider a Plunge Pool
Not every Little Rock lot has room for a full-size pool, especially in established neighborhoods like the Heights, Hillcrest and Cammack Village. A plunge pool is a small pool made for cooling off, soaking and relaxing, not for swimming laps.
As an authorized plunge pool dealer, we help you choose the model and the spot. Because plunge pools are made off-site, they can often be lifted in by crane over a house or fence, which opens up backyards a traditional build can’t reach. Installs are often faster than a traditional build, though timing depends on your site.
Why Build With Sunrise Pools
- You work with Sean, from first visit to finished job, and you have his cell number.
- Licensed Arkansas contractor, license #036926.
- Sean grew Sunrise from weekly service into repairs and remodels before building, so he knows what makes a pool easy or hard to live with years later.
- We see a lot of Little Rock pools that weren’t built well the first time. Fixing them is a big part of local remodel work, and it shapes how we build.
- All four pool types under one roof, so the recommendation fits your yard, not a sales quota.
- Weekly service and repairs after the build, from the same company.

Pool Building FAQs
How much does it cost to build a pool in Little Rock?
It depends mostly on pool type, size, site access, and how much decking and how many features you want. Sunrise Pools quotes every new build after Sean visits the property, so the number reflects your yard, not a guess.
What type of inground pool is best for Little Rock?
No one type wins. Gunite is fully custom but takes longest to build. Fiberglass is lower-upkeep and usually faster to install, with limited shapes and sizes. Vinyl liner usually costs least up front, but the liner eventually needs replacing. A plunge pool fits small yards. Sean will recommend one after seeing your yard.
Do you build custom gunite pools?
Yes. Sunrise Pools builds custom gunite pools in Little Rock, along with fiberglass, vinyl liner and plunge pools. Gunite quotes usually include about four feet of concrete deck around the pool.
How long does it take to build an inground pool?
It depends on the pool type, your site, permitting and weather. In general, plunge pools and fiberglass pools are quickest because the shell is made off-site, and gunite takes longest because the pool is formed and finished in your yard. You’ll get a schedule with your quote.
Do I need a permit to build a pool in Little Rock?
In-ground pools typically require a building permit, and pool barrier (fence) rules usually apply. If you’re in an HOA, it may require approval too. Confirm with your city or county and your HOA before work starts; Sean will go over what to check during the site visit.
Can you put a pool in a small or sloped backyard?
Often, yes. Plunge pools are made for small yards and can often be set in place by crane when there’s no room to drive equipment in. Slopes can add grading or retaining work. Sean looks at access, slope and drainage on the site visit and tells you what’s realistic.
Do you handle decking and landscaping?
Yes. We coordinate decking and landscaping through subcontractor partners as part of your project, and you can add yard lighting too.
Who will I deal with during my pool build?
Sean Brady, the owner of Sunrise Pools. He visits your yard, puts together the quote and stays your point of contact through the build, and you can reach him on his cell. Sunrise Pools is a licensed Arkansas contractor, license #036926.
