Signs Your Pool Liner Needs Replacing

Vinyl liners don’t last forever. Arkansas sun, pool chemistry and age all wear them down. If you’re seeing any of these, it’s time to have someone look at it:

  • Fading: the pattern or color has washed out, especially near the waterline.
  • Wrinkles or stretching: the vinyl has loosened and no longer sits smooth on the walls or floor.
  • Pulling out of the track: the liner has slipped out of the bead track at the top of the wall.
  • Tears, cracks or brittle spots: vinyl that feels stiff or splits when touched.
  • Losing water: a pool that drops faster than evaporation explains may have a liner leak.
  • Stains that won’t come out with normal cleaning.

Repair or Replace?

Not every liner problem means a new liner. A small tear or a single leak can often be patched. When the vinyl is faded, brittle, wrinkled across large areas or leaking in more than one place, patching usually just buys time, and replacement is the better value.

Sean will look at your liner and tell you plainly which it needs. If a repair will do the job, we’ll say so.

How a Liner Replacement Works

Here’s what to expect, from first call to swimming again.

  1. Reach out. Call or text 501.246.6789, or send the form. Photos of the liner and the pool help us give you a better first answer.
  2. Look and measure. We check the liner, walls, floor and track, then take the measurements a custom-fit liner needs.
  3. Choose your liner. Pick a pattern and color, and we talk through liner options for your pool.
  4. Clear quote. You get a written quote before any work starts.
  5. Drain and remove. On install day the pool is drained and the old liner comes out.
  6. Prep the walls and floor. We fix what we find underneath, such as a rough or uneven floor, so the new liner sits smooth.
  7. Install and refill. The new liner is set in the track, vacuumed tight to the walls and floor, and the pool is refilled. Most replacements are about two to three days of work.
  8. Balance the water. Fresh water needs balancing before swimming. We can do that, and keep the pool on weekly service if you want.

What Affects the Cost of a New Liner

Every liner is made to fit one pool, so we quote after measuring. These are the things that move the price most:

  • Pool size and shape, including steps, benches and deep-end slopes
  • Liner thickness and pattern
  • Floor and wall repairs found once the old liner is out
  • Replacing worn parts at the same time, such as the bead track, skimmer and return gaskets or lights
  • Water to refill the pool
  • Travel distance, for jobs outside our usual service area

Protect Your New Liner

Balanced water is the best thing you can do for a liner. Water that runs out of balance can fade vinyl and make it brittle, and Little Rock summers mean a lot of sun and a lot of chemical adjustment.

Our weekly maintenance keeps your water balanced and your pool checked every visit, so a new liner looks good longer.

Pool Liner Replacement FAQs

How much does it cost to replace a pool liner in Little Rock?

It depends mostly on the size and shape of your pool, the liner you choose, and any floor, wall or track repairs found once the old liner is out. Sunrise Pools measures your pool and gives you a written quote before work starts.

How long does a pool liner replacement take?

Most liner replacements are about two to three days of work, from draining and removing the old liner to setting the new one and refilling. Your quote will include the schedule.

How do I know if my pool liner needs to be replaced?

Common signs are faded color, wrinkles, vinyl pulling out of the track, tears or brittle spots, stains that won’t clean off, and a pool that loses water faster than it should. Sean will look and tell you whether a repair or a new liner makes more sense.

Can a torn pool liner be patched instead of replaced?

Often, yes, if the tear is small and the rest of the liner is in good shape. If the vinyl is faded, brittle or leaking in several places, replacement is usually the better value.

Do you replace liners outside Little Rock?

Yes. We travel farther than our usual service area for vinyl liner replacements. Call or text 501.246.6789 and tell us where your pool is.

Does my pool have to be drained to replace the liner?

Yes. The pool is drained so the old liner can come out and the walls and floor can be prepped before the new liner goes in. It’s refilled once the new liner is set.

When is the best time to replace a pool liner?

Many homeowners schedule it before swim season so the pool is ready when the weather turns warm. Call early, because spring is a busy time for pool work.

Who will I deal with on my liner replacement?

Sean Brady, the owner of Sunrise Pools. He looks at your pool, puts together the quote and stays your point of contact through the job. Sunrise Pools is a licensed Arkansas contractor, license #036926.
